Job Summary

  • Prepares lesson plans and instructs students who learn differently, need a slower pace and require much review and reinforcement, providing an environment for student success.

Job Duties

  • Prepare instructional materials and lesson plans with clear objectives and goals defined and programs correlated effectively. Submit all Lesson and Unit Plans weekly for review and approval from High School Principal and Executive Director.
  • Make use of curriculum grades, teachers' manuals, etc as aids to effective teaching, and to be cognizant of and able to utilize instructional modalities that meet the varied learning styles of students.
  • Provide real motivation for each student with skills learned through trainings.
  • Carefully evaluate the academic status and aptitude of each student. This evaluation should be based upon the correction of assignment and test papers, class participation, projects, independent study, homework, and unit and standard achievement tests.
  • Maintain a record of academic of academic status and achievement for each student, utilizing grade books, report cards, portfolios, special individualized reports and other evidence of student growth.
  • Communicate weekly with parents (by phone, written notice, and/or conference) regarding: student averages, written examples of student work, and a five week written formal Progress Report.
  • Maintain student attendance records accurately and currently.
  • Display a teaching schedule on the desk.
  • Be present at parent-teacher conferences, open house, departmental and general faculty meetings, graduation and report card distribution evenings.
  • Strive for the honest development of student self-control, the highest form of discipline: to model for children respect and non-violent choices for problem solving.
  • Attend orientation programs.
  • Participate in professional development programs and professional development workshops.
  • Be present at in-service programs for professional advancement when requested.
  • Be present no less than 20 minutes prior to the arrival of students and 30 minutes after dismissal.
  • Uphold the philosophy and goals of Hope Hall and the Mastery In Learning Program.

Education

Required: Master’s completed or in progress

Preferred: Special Education or Dual Certification

                 Concentration in English with ability to teach Consumer Math

Experience

 Required: Student teaching completed

Preferred: Teaching experience with ELA and/or Consumer Math

Technology Requirements

Novice: Active Board and/or Smart Board

Novice to Advanced: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
